Literature Text

I am the face of your fifty 'Rand',
I was a great King,
Ruler of the land.
The entire wildlife under my wing,
What Ever I Command,
They fulfill my bidding.

From what I was to what I have become,
Years of my life,
Gone like the evening sun,
Taken down without a fair fight.

All Alone moments before my death,
I Lay here on the floor,
Taking my last breath

For I see, that I was A proud beast,
To become a feast for greed.
A trophy on your wall,
Or a carpet on your floor.
My body is now your decoration
My pain, my agony for your sense gratification
My body gone, but my pride remains the same,
My entity exists, materially forgotten, Maybe,
but I will move on to the next phase.
Archie Valor's "The Lions Pride."

It is to try and emphasize how you can take a lions body, but you can't take its pride.

Plenty of lions are poached per year and sold on the black market. This is to raise awareness to animal poaching and animal cruelty and to show animals do have emotions and pride, not just a body we can sell for money.

'Rand' is South African Currency, " I am the face of your fifty rand." is literal and metaphorical. People poach lions for money, and the lion is really on the fifty 'Rand' Note
